Hi people, name's Tan Thanh, Tan for short! So I've been a Deviant for a while, and I was mostly a Hobbyist when it came to art, mostly drawing cartoon, stylized and Pokemon art. Games, movies and anime got me into this field and I wanted to pursue this as my career.
Back then I didn't know that you could have art as a job, especially since in high school you learn about many artists of old and how tough it was to survive as an artist back then. The closest profession I found to art back when I was planning for college was "Graphic Design". That became my major and my background.
I worked as a Graphic Designer and Art Teacher for some time post graduation. I also did labor work at some point in wholesale warehouses and freelanced here and there. It wasn't the art I wanted to do. I wanted to create worlds, dragons, scifi, fantasy etc. the movies that I watched as a kid! Then I found out what concept art was, and that changed everything.
I looked up concept art schools and attended them. Shortly after I got a job inhouse and have worked as a concept artist, ui designer, 2d animator, illustrator and 3d modeller. Basically an Art Generalist. It was my first taste of gamedev. It was great. Worked on many projects, got to meet awesome people, participated in game jams and drank lots. In gamedev, they drink A LOT, too much for me to handle haha!
Now I'm continuing my journey, trying to learn new things. Not just in art, but in life in general. I have never been a social media person, but I see that social media is pretty much the standard when it comes to life now - so that's the next thing I'm trying to keep up with. Just continuing my life journey. Hope you guys continue it with me too.
Hey sup! You still here?
Np! Keep up with the good art! :D
